LA Clippers Jason Preston Ohio Story Levitates His Family Background

Jason Preston Ohio story to selection in the 2021 NBA Draft has made his family proud. Jason mom Judith Sewell inspired him to pursue a basketball career.

The 6 feet 3 inches tall athlete started playing basketball at the age of four and later played college basketball for Ohio Bobcats.

Preston was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team for his performance as a freshman at Ohio. 

He was the 33rd overall pick in the 2021 Draft. Players like Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley and Josh Giddey were also part of the draft class. 

Jason also helped Ohio to win the MAC tournament after beating eighth-ranked Illinois. He went for a foot injury and following his surgery he was unable to play the entire 2021-22 season.

Preston made his NBA debut in 2022 against the Phoenix Suns. Besides his professional career as a player, he is also a basketball camp counselor at the Ohio Youth Basketball Camp.

Jason was raised by his mother Judith Sewell in Orlando, Florida. Judith was a big fan of the Detroit Pistons in the NBA.

Jason Preston dad left him when he was born and he had no siblings. After his father left, Sewell looked after him and inspired him to play basketball.

She asked him to watch and pick up tips from NBA players on television and they both used to watch Pistons' games.

When Jason was 11 years old, he found out that Judith had lung cancer. Four years later, the point guard lost his mother.

Judith Guidance Helped Jason's Basketball Career

Judith has always encouraged and motivated Jason to pursue his career in basketball. She was passionate about the game and later transpired the same passion to her offspring as well.

Jason Preston mom always reminded him to put his faith first and then make sure he was an outstanding person off the court as well.

The duo also used to talk about the dream of becoming an NBA player and they both have struggled very hard. 

Preston remains really appreciative of his role model for introducing him to the game. He finds it really special to be able to pay tribute to her while playing on the court.

Jason Preston Childhood Struggles Was Real

Jason struggled a lot during his childhood growing up without a father and later losing his beloved super momma as well.

Preston's aunt and uncle took over as his legal guardians after Judith passed away, even though he continued to reside in the United States and lived with the son of his mother's friend.

To fulfill his late mom's dream, he worked hard on the basketball floor. He joined William R. Boone High School in Orlando, Florida, and spent his two years where he only scored an average of two points per game.

After his imperfect performance, he made the decision to seek a degree in journalism at the University of Central Florida. He published articles for a website regarding the Detroit Pistons. 

Jason Started Making Progress

Jason attended Believe Prep Academy in Athens, Tennessee. He made immense progress after catching the attention of a prep coach at an AAU competition.

He got offers from Ohio and Longwood after making and sharing his own highlights video on Twitter. The rising basketball star ultimately decided to sign with the Bobcats.

Jason was chosen to the MAC All-Freshman Team in his first year with Ohio in honor of his excellent performance.

He made the decision to join his roommates in the C-team in an effort to establish a routine and get regular playing time.

During the 2017–18 season, he was promoted to the A-team, where he averaged 12 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds per game.

Preston underwent foot surgery before the 2021–22 NBA season began, which prevented him from getting off to the start he had planned for. 

However, Preston is sure that his opportunity will come as he continues to recover from the injury.

Jason Preston Is Engaged

Jason engaged his girlfriend Micaylah Nash on December 30, 2022. Micaylah and Jason both attended Ohio University. 

The couple met during their freshman year at Ohio at West 82 Food Court in 2020 and started dating. Preston proposed to Nash in December 2022. 

The first time they met, Nash remembered that she forgot the salsa while buying her West 82 quesadilla out of nervousness. 

When Jason was selected by the La Clippers, Micaylah stated that their faith has allowed them to succeed. Preston appreciates his sweetheart for always being there through all the ups and downs.

The NBA rising star made his relationship with Micaylah public via his Instagram account on June 28, 2020. 

Micaylah Is A Marketing Assistant

Jason Preston girlfriend Micaylah works at United Talent Agency as an assistant in entertainment and culture marketing. 

She studied at New Albany High School, where she participated in sports like volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. Nash completed her bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio University in 2022. 

According to her LinkedIn profile, she is also actively involved in volunteering activities. She is the co-founder of the New Albany Inclusion Committee since June 2020. 

Talking about her profession, she started working as a marketing, sales, and promotion intern for five months at Southern Ohio Copper Heads. 

She also interned at the Atlanta Hawks Virtual Sales Academy for three months. After getting experience in different fields, she held the position of co-founder of the diversity and inclusion committee at Phi Chi Theta at Ohio University. 

On top of that, she also worked in different positions like a tour guide, peer coach and business teaching assistant at Ohio University.
