Credits IX. Legal Stuff ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Introduction Much like in the previous two Battle Network games, Folders play an essential role to Megaman's survival in the internet. Some serve to directly assault opponents, using high damaging chips to end a fight quickly. Others might use several chips to lock opponents down and slowly delete them. Needless to say, some folder designs are better than others, which is where this FAQ comes into play. Here you will find a collection of folders that are not only unique, but capable of fully utilizing the chips that are stored within them. However, while some folders may appear to be very powerful, no folder is truly invincible, which is what makes proper folder construction more of a science than an art. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. The Essentials for Proper Folder Construction Sure, anyone can just throw 30 chips together and call it a folder. However, most likely it will be a rather poor folder. Though the folders listed here are unique, they all follow a fundamental guideline, which is why they were even considered being aceepted in the first place. 1. Basis- This is the main way to deal damage in a folder, whether it be a PA or a combo. Example- 2xHero in 2xHero folder 2. Support- What you use to make pulling off the basis easier or even possible. Example- Areagrab in Lifesword folder 3. Defense- This is usually what you use to shut out damage completely, but recovery could be used, though not recommended. Example- Invis, AntiDmg, Auras, Recovery 4. Speed- This is how the folder runs in a battle. This takes things like FstGauge into account, as well as how many codes there are. The wider variety of chip codes you have, the slower the folder. 4(b). Fluidity- Even if your folder is one code, it may play kinda choppy. Example- Pulling off a Meteors combo is not easy, whereas a 2xhero folder would run more smoothly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. MMBN3 Terminology and Tips This section is dedicated to explain certain aspects about the game as well as provide advice about how certain chips could be utilized in a folder. Remember not everything is what it seems. IIIa. Navi Customizer(NC): The Navi Customizer is the newest addition to the Battle Network series. It lets you use various NC blocks to further enhance Megaman's abilities. There are FAQ's which discuss this important aspect of the game further, so I will only briefly explain its uses. Basically, these blocks that you find in the game have bonuses such as Charge+1, Attack+1, etc. However, you only have a limited space in which to use these blocks, and usually the blocks have weird shapes, forcing you to recall your tetris skills to make the most of the 5x5 grid. Most of these folders don't really demand any specific NC block, but if they do, it will be mentioned in their Overall Summary. IIIb. Program Advances(PA): When certain chips are uploaded in a particular order, there's a chance they may advance into a more powerful type of chip so to speak. An example can be seen with the popular PA, LifeSword. The chips used are Sword, WideSword, and LongSword, all with the same code of course. Alone, these chips could do a total of 240 damage, 80 apiece, but that's assuming you can land all 3 swipes. However, when combined into LifeSword, the damage is increased to 400, a substantial improvement. Before you couldn't even break LifeAura with each chip, but now you can break HolyAuras. There are 32 PA's available in the game. Some are devastating, while others leave something more to be desired. If you wish to learn more about PA's and how to use them, refer to Zidanet129's P.A. FAQ. IIIc. Higsby's Chip Order: Due to the lack of a duplication trick this time around, Capcom has fitted MMBN3 with the Chip Order, so players can get more one of a kind chips for their folders. Whenever you get a chip that you never had before, Higsby will then carry 1 more of that chip, meaning if you get all 200 regular chips and 85 megachips, Higbsy will have them all for sale with at least 1 quantity. I say at least 1 because there are ways to increase the amount of chips he has in stock. Whenever a chip is used for either EnergyCharge or fed into a chip trader. That chip will be sent to Higsby, meaning you can never lose a chip forever. However, the chips available have a predetermined chip code,(eg, WideSwords can only be purchased in C code, or HolyPanel can only be purchased in U code, etc), so be aware that once you use certain chips, you may never see them in that code again without luck from chip traders. IIId. HolyAura/Fallen Light/Sacred Barrier In MMBN2, HolyAura3 was a very strong form of defense. It utilized the rare Sanctuary chip or a more common HolyPanel chip and the LifeAura3 Chip. The concept is pretty simple. Sanctuary/HolyPanel reduces the damage dealt to the person on the panel by 1/2. Now with LifeAura3 requiring 200 damage minimum to break, having it activated while on a Holypanel means that at least 400 damage would need to be dealt in order to break it. However, in MMBN3, Sanctuary is much easier to acquire in the game, and those who have the Blue Version of the game can also receive the DarkAura GigaChip by completing the Serenade Time Trials. Fallen Light makes use of the Dark Aura Chip and Sanctuary. Dark Aura is capable of withstanding all attacks under 300 damage, so by using Sanctuary/HolyPanel, that means you need to deal at least 600 damage to break it! This is not an easy task, but fortunately there's a chip called Northwind, which will remove auras instantly. If you don't use that, you can attempt to wait it out as the auras only last for around 50 seconds. Another potentially powerful/frustrating form of defense is the Sacred Barrier. This is done by using the Barrier500 PA(Barrier, Barrier100, Barrier200 E/R codes) and either HolyPanel/Sanctuary. This set up allows you to withstand up to 1,000 damage before the shield breaks. IIIe. Variable sword: This has become a very popular chip since the days of MMBN2. By Holding down A and inputting a series of commands, this weapon is capable of duplicating the effects of most sword chips in the game as well as two abilities that are considered very powerful. The Elemental Sonic Boom is capable of dealing 640 damage to a single opponent, 880 if powered up by Atk+30 and 3 Atk+10's, making it one of the most powerful regular chips in the game, granted you can pull off the combo. Long Sword: Down, Down/Right, Right [Slices forward 2 panels] Wide Sword: Up, Right, Down [Slices column in front of Megaman] Hero Sword: Left, Down/Left, Down, Down/Right, Right [Slices down a row] Life Sword: Down, Left, Up, Right, Down [Does a 2x3 area slice] Tri Slash: Left, B, Right, B [Shoots 3 energy slashes across field] Elemental Sonic Boom: B, B, Left, Down, Up [Shoots 4 slashes(1 of each element) across field] IIIf. Punch Chips: Much like the Variable Sword, the punch chips(GutPunch, GutStrgt, and GutImpct) have the ability to do more than just what their chip description says. By holding A and inputting the following commands, you can get more out of these somewhat neglected chips. GutPunch (Rocket Punch: Down, Down/Right, Right) [This will launch the fist across a row, damaging anything in its way.] GutStrgt (Triple Punch: B, B, Down, Left, Right, B) [Will punch panel in front of Megaman 3 times.] GutImpct (Rapid Punch: Left, B, Down, B, Down, B) [Will punch panel in front of Megaman 5 times.] This is technically one of the powerful regular chips in the game, hindered only by its poor range. However, it has the potential to deal at least 500 damage. Not bad for just a single chip. IIIg. RockCubes: This chip has become quite versatile in MMBN3 as they are easily found in *code in SciLab 2. They possess several functions that makes them usable in just about any folder that can spare the room. 1. Set up a rockcube or 2 at most in order to block some attacks. Preventing damage is always a good thing. 2. Set up rockcube and launch at opponent with either airshot, or a punch chip for a quick 200 damage. Considering Airshot3 comes in * code, this combo easily fits in any folder. 3. Set up rockcube in opponents' territory to hinder them. IIIh. SandStage: This is a new area affect to the Battle Network Series, and it can either beagreat help or an incredible burden. For one, those who aren't using the FloatShoes or HubBatch Blocks in their Navi Customizer will find moving on sand more difficult, as there is almost a half second delay between each step. However, certain chips and attacks are boosted by sand. These being the whirlwind type chips such as Tornado, doubling its damage. Using the Wind Chip causes sand to be flung at the opponent for 50 damage per panel. Also, thosein a Wood Element for their style will notice their Charged Buster Attack will do double damage as well. IIIi. Volcano: This firechip deals 150 damage to all targets in the enemy field. However, if you have lavastage out, when you activate this chip, it will absorb all the lava panels in your area and boost the attack of the volcano by 10 for each panel, giving it the ability to do up to 320 damage. Unfortunately, you need to have possession of 17 of the 18 total panels to get that damage, and you can just as easily do 300 damage by using the chip on a grass stage. IIIj. Old Wood: Much like Volcano, this chip receives a damage bonus when an element is affecting the field, in this case grass. However, unlike Volcano, Old Wood works a bit better. For each grass panel on the field, Old Wood's power is boosted by 20, and this includes all grass panels, not just ones on your side. However, to even use Old Wood you need to put a hole in the field, so PanelOut1 is your best bet in order to maximize damage. If fully powered up with Wood+30 chips, this chip can do 560 damage, 1120 if against electric, which is nice indeed. Unfortunately, Old Wood is a mega chip, so it's very difficult to work a folder around it, especially without a lot of luck from chip/bug traders. IIIk. Divine Chaos: Geddon3 is a notorious chip that pollutes the entire field with a noxious gas, slowly draining everyone of their life. Fortunately, you can take advantage of this by using the repair chip, which rids your side of the field from this nuisance. However, you can further improve this combo by using Sanctuary instead of repair. Not only do you remove the poison from your side, but now only take half the normal damage. IIIl. Sensor Sensor is a useful chip for many strategies. Why? Because it restricts the movement of your opponent, which is always good. If they move into its path, they get hit and paralyzed, which sets up for your combo. If they stay out of its path, they still can't move into the more important parts of the arena. The most strategically important place to put the Sensor is in the middle row, so they only have one row to move through. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Folders Well, this is why you came here, isn't it? The folders have been broken down into four groups, novice, experienced, expert, and insane. Novice folders are easy to use, while the difficulty increases to the point where you need to be one with the folder. Anyway, Asakura and I put in a lot of work, providing you with as much information on each folder as possible. IVa. [Novice Folders] In general these folders are fairly easy to build, and are just as easy to play effectively. Though titled novice folders, it doesn't mean that only beginner's should use them. Capable players can also take advantage of the simplicity to use such folders. However, these folders are considered to be somewhat cheap for netbattles, and are not recommended if you wish to be considered a respectable player by opponents. IVa i. Cloud Strife765's 2xhero Folder ---------------------- 4 Slasher B 4 Cust Sword B 4 VarSword B 4 Atk+10 * 3 MetaGel1 B 3 Northwind A 2 Invis * 1 ProtomanV1 B 1 ProtomanV2 B 1 ProtomanV3 B 1 ProtomanV4 B 1 FstGauge * (preset) 1 Atk+30 * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Any Rundown: In MMBN2 Gater was the notorious PA that did nasty damage with practically no effort involved. While Gateman has hung up his cannon, we now see the not so powerful but still deadly 2xhero enter the spotlight. Though many folders can be constructed around this PA, Cloud Strife765 has provided us with the most straightforward folder design. Its sole purpose is to get 2xhero as fast as possible, having northwinds for aura/barrier disposal. Pros: -Pretty easy to build. No need to get chips from a trader in order to receive desired codes. -With 16 out of the 30 chips being used for 2xhero, chances are almost certain that you will get the PA within 1-2 rounds. -700 damage to the entire enemy field makes quick work of most viruses. -Can use Protoman or Varsword effectively alone, making the folder very versatile. -Puts the hurt on shadows. Cons: -No piercing, so a well-timed shield can hinder this folder a bit. -A bit lacking in defense, which is easily remedied. Overall: This folder will get you through virus, navi, or netbattles without a problem, and takes mere minutes to construct. However, due to its power, it becomes boring fast. A few changes could be made such as more defense or other attack chips with B code, but it's mostly a personal preference. IVa ii. NeoDelux's Snake Plague ---------------------- 4 Geddon2 H 4 Snake Y 4 Wood+30 * 3 AreaGrab * 3 Invis * 2 Atk+10 2 AirShot3 * 2 Sword Y 2 WideSword Y 2 LongSword Y 1 Atk+30 1 FstGauge * (Preset) ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: In MMBN2, Penguinknight's Snakeman Folder was capable of dealing over 3,000 damage with relative ease. Now in MMBN3, the snake portion of that attack returns as its own chip, and a bit weakened. Now each snake deals 40 damage instead of 50, and wood+ chips have dropped from 40 to 30, but that doesn't stop this folder from being extremely potent, and Neo has made some adjustments accordingly in order to compensate. The basic idea is simple. You Grab as much of the field as possible and then use Geddon2 just before your custom gauge fills. Next turn use snake + 120, and hopefully watch your opponent eat a potential 2560 damage, 5120 if opponent is electric element. The lifesword fits perfectly with the codes, ensuring that no auras are safe. Pros: -An ideal attack of a snake + 120 and all panels open besides yours and your opponent's means serious damage. -Capable of taking out HolyAuras/Fallen Light, since sanctuary is lost to Geddon2. -Despite minor clashing, the folder is pretty smooth. -Pretty easy to construct. Just need to get the snake and geddon2 chip from traders, and get the proper codes from Higsby's Chip Order. -The snakes are smart, meaning they'll attack a new target if their original target dies. This makes it pretty effective for virus busting, but not preferred. Cons: -Again, the snakes cannot pierce, so shields can block it. -Speed could be improved a bit by throwing in a FullCust. -Folder is vulnerable to stage chips. -The combo is rendered useless if opponent has possession of more panels than you. Remember for each panel you dont control, that's 160 less damage you can deal. Overall: This folder is very powerful and not hard to execute, though it may be considered a bit too cheap. You could swap out Geddon2 for Geddon1 D code, which snake also comes in, but that ultimately causes the whole folder to change, and makes it extremely difficult to build. Basically, this is the ideal setup, where minor tweaks can be done such as adding more Atk chips or defense. The choice is up to you, really. Iva iii.Darkn3ss' Accursed Twilight ---------------------- 4 Navi+20 * 4 Atk+10 * 4 MetaGel1 D 3 Invis * 3 Rook D 2 Sanctuary A 2 Northwind A 1 Dark Aura A 1 Fastguage *(preset) 1 Life Aura D 1 Fullcust * 1 DarkmanV1 D 1 DarkmanV2 D 1 DarkmanV3 D 1 DarkmanV4 D ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: As Darkman is the theme of this folder, it seems almost a given that someone named Darkn3ss would hire this navi assassin. At first Darkman's attack might not seem too spectacular, doing several weak hits distributed amongst the enemy field. However, the less columns there are, the number of attacks done to the remaining enemy areas increase. If you can manage to grab 2 columns, all of darkman's attacks will now hit that last one, turning this once mediocre navi into a devastating one. The Rooks provide defense while you set your opponent up for an attack. If that isn't enough you could use a Holy aura, or better yet the fallen light combo makes it even tougher to damage you. You may be wondering how Dark Aura is in this folder and no hole chip to use it. The answer to that is Darkman forms his own holes after you use him, allowing you to efficiently use Dark chips without wasting a chip spot or NC space with Dark License. Pros: -Pretty easy to build. Once again Higsby saves the day! -A fully powered and focused Darkman attack can do over 2,000 damage. -Minor code clashing allows removals of all auras and lets you utilize fallen light. Cons: -It's a pretty cheap folder to use in netbattling. -You may find yourself cycling through unnecessary chips such as extra metagels, atk+ chips, etc. -No way to handle shadows -Unable to pierce. Overall: This folder is powerful, especially considering the relative ease it takes to construct. You can do a few things with this folder such as replacing Dark Aura with either FolderBak to provide chip replenishment, or you can add even more power by adding Serenade to the mix. Of course I don't see a need to cause a 3 code clash for 1 chip when this folder is already cheap as it is. I would suggest using this for fighting tougher navis. IVa iv. Daimou43's Flash Crusher ---------------------- 4 Elec+30 * 3 Ratton1 F 3 Ratton2 F 3 Ratton3 F 3 RockCube * 3 Airshot3 * 2 Invis * 2 Mole2 * 1 Fullcust * 1 FolderBk * 1 Icestage * (Preset) 1 FlashManV1 F 1 FlashManV2 F 1 FlashManV3 F 1 FlashManV4 F ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Aqua Rundown: Daimou, another veteran to the Network series, continues to try to construct interesting and effective folders, and certainly hasn't lost any touch. The idea here is to stun opponents with Flashman, and them nibble them to death with HyperRat. Oh, yeah, Icestage doubles electric damage doesn't it, and makes it difficult to avoid things. Rockcubes can serve as fodder for damage or simply to further inhibit an opponent's movements, while FolderBak makes sure you always have an icestage ready to go. Ballade of Death reborn! Pros: -Powered up FlashMan followed by Hyper rat deals close to 1,000 damage that's almost unavoidable. -One code and FullCust makes this an extremely fast folder. -Very easy folder to make. Higsby practically supplies this whole folder. -Pierces with FlashMan, even through Invis! Cons: -Takes a bit of time to finish off an opponent once you use fullcust for the inital flashman/hyper rat combo, depending on luck of course. -If icestage is lost early, you take a hefty loss in damage as well as field advantage while waiting for folderbk. -Might be a bit tricky dropping Dark Auras. -No way to hurt shadows. Overall: At first I was skeptical about this folder due to the lack of really powerful chips. However, all doubts were put aside when it crushed ProtomanV3 in less than 10 seconds. As you see, an Aqua Style or the HubBatch NC block MUST be used in order to effectively use this folder(to prevent slipping yourself), while you must also have Fstgauge set in your NC as well. The unfair aspect about this folder is the fact that you don't need to aim FlashMan to hit, therefore you simply need to mash A at the beginning of a battle, and keep the opponent in a perpetual lock until deleted. IVb. [Experienced Folders] These are the folders I personally enjoy the most. They lack that "unfairly cheap" aspect, and focus more towards using each chip to its fullest potential. Don't get me wrong, these folders are more than capable of crushing foes, but to do so, you need to use them with more skill than just correctly loading a PA and hitting the A button. Usually folders here are made by players who have long completed single player mode, and as such, these folders are designed with the intent of going against single opponents such as Navis and/or Netbattlers. IVb i. Asakura Yoh's Bubonic Plague ---------------------- 3 Invis * 3 MetaGel C 3 RockCube * 2 NorthWind C 2 Airshot3 * 2 CrsShield1 C 2 CrsShield2 C 2 CrsShield3 C 2 Ratton1 C 2 Ratton2 C 2 Ratton3 C 2 Geddon3 C 1 Sanctuary C 1 Fstgauge * (pre) 1 VarSword C ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Any Rundown: Combining filthy rats, a tainted land, and a seemingly endless curse? Sounds just like the Middle Ages, and this appropriately named folder fits right in. Asakura Yoh, a long time expert player in the Network series decided to have fun with the C code, while making a powerful folder at the same time. As Geddon3 is slowly sucking an opponent's life away, but not yours since you're protected by Sanctuary, they also have to worry about EverCurse. This is one of the few PA's that actually got a boost from MMBN2 rather than being weakened. When properly activated, it will chomp at its foe 15 times, doing a nasty 1,500 damage. With all these things constantly attacking the opponents' life, it's only the merciful to send out a Hyper Rat for a quick 500 damage, most likely putting an end to their suffering. Pros: -All one code, so it's a fast and very efficient folder. -Relatively simple to build, mostly supplied by our good friend Higsby. -Northwind means this folder can handle any auras. -A versatile folder than can do decent damage in many ways. -Varsword provides shadow slashing capabilities. Cons: -Timing EverCurse is a bit tricky, but practice could fix that. -If opponent is invisible or activates an aura while evercurse is going, it'll fizzle out sooner than its normal 15 hits. -Once again, shadows are immune to this. Overall: Though this folder packs a potent punch, but it still takes some skill to properly use the chips, otherwise you'll most likely find yourself poisoning yourself and without any source of damage. I personally would probably swap out a rockcube in exchange for a FolderBk, just so running out of chips wouldn't be a concern. I really enjoyed testing this folder. Well done! IVb ii. Protomanexe21's Wet Nurse ---------------------- 4 Atk+10 * 3 Invis * 3 HolyPanel R 3 Recover300 R 2 Barrier10 R 2 Barrier100 R 2 Barrier200 R 2 NorthWind A 2 Sanctuary A 1 Roll R 1 RollV2 R 1 RollV3 R 1 FastGauge * (Preset) 1 FullCust * 1 Attack+30 * 1 FolderBk * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Any Rundown: Since the original Battle Network game, Roll has been seen as a somewhat weak Navi chip that did weak healing. It helped getting through the game, but not really effective for Netbattles. In MMBN2, Roll was slightly revamped, and was even given her own PA, which did pitiful damage, but had the benefit of full heal. Now, with MMBN3, Roll has been revamped once again, but this time she's actually decent! Though her damage didn't increase from MMBN2, she does the damage in 3 hits, and as you know, applying damage boosters to chips that can hit several time ultimately adds a lot more damage. Bigheart also received a significant damage boost, from doing 300 damage, to doing 9 hits for 50 damage apiece. Now 450 damage isn't bad, but if you add an Atk+30 and Atk+10 to the combination, suddenly Bigheart can do 810 damage, and that's not something to look upon lightly. However, the PA doesn't provide full healing as it did before, but 300 isn't bad either. Though there's some code clashing, the ability to have a SacredBarrier makes for a formidable defense. Folderbk, as usual, provides the security that your folder will never be depleted. Pros: -Despite minor code clashing, the folder runs quite smoothly. -Not too difficult to make. Finding more Recov300 R's would be the only hard thing to get. -As a result of the minor code clashing, it can easily handle auras, and provides excellent defense with SacredBarrier. Cons: -No way to kill quickly, but then again, this IS a defensive folder. -Having Barrier500 activated is practically essential to survive with this folder. -Can't handle shadows. Overall: This is as good as a defensive folder can get. If you use either UndrSht or HubBatch in your NC block, you will become very difficult to kill as Bigheart will provide you with healing to keep you above 1 hp, while you can stall by hiding invisible with a SacredBarrier Activated. Dealing with Holyauras is like a trip to Disney Land compared to breaking through this folder's defense. IVb iii. Pieomon's Eternal Poison ---------------------- 4 PanlGrab * 4 Invis * 3 Mole3 C 3 Geddon3 C 2 PoisMask A 2 PoisFace A 2 Sanctuary C 2 CrsShield1 C 2 CrsShield2 C 2 CrsShield3 C 1 Anubis A 1 Northwind A 1 FolderBak * 1 Fullcust * (Preset) ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Any Rundown: MMBN2 introduced the level 4 poison concept, by combining the effects of the PoisPhar PA, Geddon3, and PoisMask/Face. If executed properly it was capable of draining 40 hp a second. This may not sound like much, but this poison hits through just about anything, even auras and invisibility. Unfortunately, MMBN3 restricts this by only allowing 1 PoisPhar in a folder since Anubis is now a Mega Chip. However, this folder utilizes the tricky but powerful evercurse PA to assist with damage, while 9 chips have been dedicated to defense in order to stay alive while the poison courses through its victim. Pros: -Relatively easy to construct. Getting Mole3 in C code might be a bit cumbersome, but Higsby has everything else. -Only 2 codes makes this folder fairly quick. -Northwind allows you to use evercurse properly, though unnecessary if you have PoisPhar out. -practically 1/3 of this folder is defense, which is never bad. -Divine Chaos combo keeps your hitpoints poison free and protected. Cons: -Having only 1 PoisPhar makes it prone to poltergeist. -Can only maintain level 4 poison for 20 seconds as that's how long PoisMask/Face last. -You might find yourself cycling through unnecessary defense/panelgrabs. Overall: Though a bit more difficult to manage than in MMBN2, this poison folder still contains power. If properly executed, your opponents will be practically helpless to stop it. With their hitpoints now functioning as a countdown, it's only a matter of time before they are deleted. Of course they could always take a chance against evercurse if they are impatient. IVb iv. China Boy's Samurai Strike! ---------------------- 4 MetaGel1 Y 4 Sword Y 4 LongSwrd Y 4 WideSwrd Y 4 AirShot3 * 3 Invis * 2 AirSword * 1 FolderBk * 1 JapanMan Y 1 JapanManV2 Y 1 JapanManV3 Y 1 JapanManV4 Y ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Any Rundown: When we asked for a Sword folder, the natural idea people would get is to make use of the popular LifeSword PA. It can be done in three codes(L, E, Y), making it more versatile than most. In China Boy's case, he uses the Y code and adds the backup support of YamatoMan. The AirShots and MetaGels make it easier to lock, more or less ensuring the opponent is vulnerable to any attack. Pros: -One code -Can use lifesword and JapanMan in the same round. -Capable of hitting by grabbing only 1 column. -Practically designed to kill pesky Shadows. Cons: -Can't deal with Fallen Light. -It's a bit easy to dodge JapanMan if you don't have the opponent locked. -Not exactly a fast folder. Overall: The major flaw with this folder is it can't deal a lot of damage fast. It slowly chips away at an opponents' life, leaving them more time to execute a more devastating counterattack. Despite that, it does its job by providing a practical way to use JapanMan. IVb v. Darkn3ss' Pleasant Dreams ---------------------- 4 Sword E 4 Wide sword E 4 Long sword E 2 Barrier E 2 Barrier 100 E 2 Barrier 200 E 2 Elecsword E 2 Sanctuary E 2 Metagel2 E 2 Northwind A 2 Invis * 1 Folder Back * 1 Fast guage * (preset) ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Style: Any Rundown: This Sword folder makes use of the E code, which is a lot easier to work with than Y. While this folder only has LifeSword as a means of damage, it makes up for it by having a stout defense. Between invisibility and Sacred Barrier, there should be plenty of time to stall for more LifeSword's. Pros: -All one code with the exception of Northwind, so it basically runs smoothly. -Can deal with any aura. -Runs very smoothly. -Makes short work of shadows. Cons: -Damage isn't too great. If someone has over 1,000 hps, don't expect a quick win. -Prone to the ever popular AntiSword chip. -May be a bit hard to construct. Overall: LifeSword is always a good advance, able to take down HolyAura and deal plain damage with respectable range. But just like Samurai Strike, it has no elemental advantage. If you're looking for an excuse to play with swords, here's your chance. IVb vi. Warrior99999's Prismatic Edge ---------------------- 4 FireSword N 4 AquaSword N 4 ElecSword N 4 BambSword N 4 AreaGrab * 4 Invis * 3 Fan * 2 Northwind N 1 Fast Gauge *(preset) ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: Most were disappointed when they discovered that MMBN3 only had LifeSword1, and not the widely versatile and superior LifeSword3. As a result the elemental swords form a different PA that basically uses all 4 swords in rapid succession to deal at least 550 damage. Since the damage isn't too fantastic, this very simple folder design is meant to get the PA as much as and as fast as possible. The AreaGrabs allow you to close in on your opponent, or you could use Fan to bring them to you. Northwinds, as always, provides aura removing goodness. Pros: -One code, and considering there's only 1 PA to aim for, it's very fast. -This folder annihilates shadows. -No auras are safe. -Easy strategy, slash as much as possible. Cons: -Damage isn't terrific, at best you could do 700 if someone is vulnerable to aqua. -Chances are very high that you will sometimes be wasting rounds trying to get the necessary chips for the PA. -A bit excessive in the AreaGrab department. -Very prone to AntiSword. Overall: I would consider this a "for fun" folder. It isn't necessarily devastating, but it also isn't weak. I would probably drop an AreaGrab for a FolderBak, and maybe 1 ElemSword PA for Atk+ chips. You could also try to use IceStage in order to double the damage of the aqua swipe. Regardless, this is definitely an interesting and as straightforward of a folder as you could get. IVb vii. Protomanexe21's Hydro Blaster ---------------------- 4 Aqua+30 * 4 Navi+20 * 4 PanelGrab * 4 MetaGel1 B 3 Invis * 2 NorthWind A 2 Sanctuary A 1 Navi+40 * 1 Bubbleman B 1 BubbleManV2 B 1 BubbleManV3 B 1 BubbleManV4 B 1 BubbleManV5 B 1 FastGauge * (preset) ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: In the Battle Network series, chips that are capable of doing multiple hits per use tend to be popular for folder themes. In Protomanexe21's case, he decided to take advantage of the BubbleMan chip, which even version 1 can do 6 hits. Add some Aqua+ and Navi+ chips and this turns into a fatal assault on opponents. MetaGels and PanelGrabs limit opponents' mobility, leaving them vulnerable to BubbleMan, while NorthWinds keep auras off. Pros: -High elemental damage = lots of damage for Heat Element. -Simple but effective strategy. -Aura's do not shut down this folder Cons: -BubbleMan can miss very easily if the opponent isn't locked. -Slight code clashing for Aura removal. -A bit lacking in defense, making this folder even riskier to use. -Can't combat shadows. Overall: This folder goes for a one hit KO, so setting up for the perfect attack is necessary. You can't just blindly go and waste your BubbleMan. If possible, I would swap the BubbleManV5 chip for a FolderBk in order to ensure a constant supply of chips. IVc [Expert folders] Expert folders are for those who have a good knowledge about chip use and are skilled with field manipulation. Such folders force you to use chips with precision and accuracy, where missing an attack can spell doom. However, if successful, these folders can devastate the opponent. While some of the folders may be somewhat easy to construct, all require a level of skill that exceeds the average player. IVc i. Asakura Yoh's Roll Flash ---------------------- 4 Areagrab R 4 Fire+30 * 3 BigHeart R 3 Invis * 3 AirShot3 * 2 GrassStage R 2 NorthWind A 1 Meteors R 1 FstGauge * (pre) 1 FullCust * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Wood Rundown: This folder is designed for using the Meteors combo, invented by GeminiPilot in MMBN2. The basic idea is that the less panels the enemy has, the more focused the meteors becomes, hitting your target more times. If you can lock opponents down to one panel, they're now looking at 25 meteors being launched directly at them, killing them instantly if they aren't protected. Here we see Asakura has recreated this classic folder in order to keep its legacy alive. Despite the Mega Chip restrictions applied to Meteors, and the Fire+ chip being slightly weaker than before, this still makes for one fatal attack, up to 4160 damage if properly executed. BigHeart fits in nicely as it provides an alternate source of damage, and the healing allows you to stall. Pros: -Possibly the most damaging attack in the game. -Locking isn't too hard this time due to AirShot. -Removes Auras with relative ease. Cons: -Slow like EVERY Meteors folder -NorthWind yet again clashes with codes. -Won't work well without a WoodCustom style. Overall: As in all its incarnations in MMBN2, this folder is not for beginners or amateurs. If you miss the combo, you're screwed. Of course, if you can, definitely throw in a FolderBk to provide a safety net in case things don't work out as planned. IVc ii. CrimsonKnight's Scourge of the Desert ---------------------- 4 MetaGel1 C 4 Tornado C 3 Atk+10 * 3 SandStage C 3 Invis * 3 Airshot3 * 3 RockCube * 2 Northwind C 1 Sanctuary C 1 Atk+30 * 1 FolderBk * 1 FullCust * 1 Fstgauge * (preset) ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Wood Rundown: This folder exploits the bonus to wind attacks done on sand panels. The strategy here is to grab enough enemy territory, preferably all of it, and then hit the opponent with a powered up Tornado for massive damage. Northwinds provide aura dropping capabilities, while the RockCubes serve as, an alternate source of damage/defense. Pros: -One code, so it moves quickly. -Sandstage inhibits movements somewhat, making it easier to land Tornado. -Capable of dealing 1280 damage with a single attack. Cons: -A bit hard to get Sandstage C from traders. -Almost needs to lock opponent to make sure tornado hits. -No way to fight shadows. -Lacks piercing. -Might have to cycle some chips for others. Overall: This folder seems easy to use, but against a smart opponent it's a lot tougher. You MUST be using either the FloatShoes or HubBatch NC blocks, so that you too aren't affected by the sand. If you are willing to spend a little time with this folder, you'll find that it is quite deadly. IVc iii. Simon Belmont33's High Impact ---------------------- 4 Guard * 4 DashAtk G 3 MetaGel2 G 3 Mole2 G 3 GutImpct G 3 RockCube * 2 FanFare G 2 AreaGrab * 1 Atk+ 30 * 1 GutsMan G 1 GutsManV2 G 1 GutsManV3 G 1 GutsManV4 G 1 FoldrBak * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: This folder was designed to utilize the somewhat neglected GutShoot PA. The drawback to this folder is the PA only shoots in a straight line, making it rather easy to dodge. Fortunately, the Fanfare leaves you invincible for a short amount of time, so you don't have to worry about getting hit. The GutImpact chip also compliments this folder well as it provides piercing, and the ability to do a 5 punch combo if the proper commands are input. Pros: -2 forms of locking, either AreaGrab/MetaGel or Breaking Panels with GutsMan. -Good forms of defense -Piercing = good. -Despite its poor range, a GutImpact rapid punch attack deals respectable damage. Cons: -Without locking or fanfare activated, MegaMan flies off into the distance. -GutsShoot only does 300 damage, 340 at most if you give it Atk+ chips. Overall: This folder possesses a double threat in the fact that MetaGels and Areagrab take their area, and GutsMan can get rid of their panels. Unfortunately, no attack in this folder is very powerful, leaving very little room for error. The FolderBk is practically necessary here to make sure you can keep refreshing your supply of GutShoot PA's. IVc iv. NeoDelux's N.O. Name ---------------------- 4 RockCube * 4 GutImpact H 4 NoBeam3 H 4 AirSwrd H 4 Lance H 3 AreaGrab * 3 Invis * 3 HoleMetr H 1 FstGauge * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: Based on doing lots of damage in various ways, this folder, created by NeoDelux, works around a chip thought to be too hard to use. NoBeam3 does 300 damage, and Lance and other chips work to wittle opponents away while waiting for the harder hits. Pros: -High damage from one chip -No waiting to form advances -Can lock well. Cons: -Medium speed -Dependancy on Rock Cubes and arealocking to ensure NoBeam hits. Overall: This is one of those folders that plays better than it appears. Despite its difficult learning curve, this folder makes excellent use of chips that are normally neglected or overlooked. IVc v. Xel23's Hymn of the Grave ---------------------- 4 Attack+10 * 4 RockCube * 4 Invis3 * 3 PanlGrab * 3 MetaGel3 S 3 AirShot3 * 2 NrthWind S 2 Mine S 1 FstGauge * (preset) 1 FullCust * 1 Attack+30 * 1 Serenade S 1 GodStone S ---------------------- Preferred Style: Bug Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: This folder makes use of the Mega Chip PA MomQuake. This limited, but deadly attack drops stones randomly on the opponent's field for about 10 seconds. However, much like the Meteoric Hell combo, the less panels the enemy has, the more concentrated the hits become, therefore making this a devastating folder. It doesn't stop there, though. Serenade also serves up the damage by dealing well over 1,000 damage, just in case MomQuake hasn't already. Pros: -One Code, very fluid. -Either attack this folder has is capable of an instant delete if everything is set up properly. -Northwinds keep auras at bay. Cons: -Much like Meteoric Hell, it suffers from being somewhat slow. -Much like Meteoric Hell, failing to areagrab will result in death. (notice a trend here?) -Navi Cust is a bit limited since Dark License is a MUST for this folder. -Can't thwart shadows. Overall: Though the strategy is pretty straightforward, its potential for failure is greater than most. Also, the zero chance of using FolderBk with this makes it a borderline insane folder. However, despite all the drawbacks, this folder can and will kill if given the chance. IVc vi. Xel23's Volcanic Equilibrium ---------------------- 4 Fire+30 * 4 AreaGrab Y 3 Volcano Y 3 Sword Y 3 WideSwrd Y 3 LongSwrd Y 3 Invis * 2 LavaStage * 2 BlkBomb3 Y 1 Balance Y 1 FstGauge * (preset) 1 FullCust * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Heat Rundown: In the Tips section I mentioned how the Volcano+LavaStage combo isn't all that useful due to the fact that you need to grab practically the entire field to give it a decent boost. However, Xel23 showed me that there is indeed a use for this neglected combo, and it's actually pretty good! By using Balance to halve everyone's life, and then a fully powered Volcano, it is possible to defeat an opponent fairly quick. If that doesn't work, you can ignite the bombs on the LavaStage, or simply slash people with LifeSword. Pros: -One code, makes for a smooth folder. -LavaStage removes Sanctuary, leaving no aura truly safe. -LifeSword makes short work of shadows. Cons: -Almost relies on Balance to win, otherwise the folder moves slow. -Volcano has a 1 second shot delay, leaving you vulnerable for attack. -Not the easiest folder to build. Overall: While this may not be the most powerful folder, it makes full use of the chips that are normally overlooked. Again, having a giga-chip that isn't FolderBk adds a lot to the risk of the folder, meaning every chip counts. If you're up for a good challenge for NetBattles, this is definitely a folder worth trying. IVc. vii. Zidanet129's E-Defender --------------------- 4 VarSwrd E 3 BubShot E 3 Bubble-V E 3 BubSide E 2 Barrier * 2 100Barrier * 2 200Barrier E 3 KillerSensor3 E 3 AreaSteal * 2 Sancturary E 1 IceStage * (Preset if FullCust replaces FstGauge) 1 FstGauge (Preset, can be replaced with FullCust if necessary) 1 FolderReturn --------------------- Preferred style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: When Zidanet129 saw that there was an advance that wasn't exploited, he decided to base a folder around it. E has always been a versatile code, allowing for good defense and strong attacks. Here we have BubSpread, a rarely used advance, and VarSword as the main means of attack. 300 damage is enough to break a Dark Aura, and VarSwords Elemental Sonic does 900 damage too. Sacred Barrier allows attacking without having to worry about defending for a while, and the ever popular Sensor restricts the enemies area of movement, making dodging the BubSpread impossible. I would personally add in an Airshot or two just in case of Rooks. Pros: -Balance of attack and defense -Sensor adds accuracy -One code adds fluidity to the folder Cons: -A bit reliant on the Sensor -Rooks can shut down the Elemental Sonic -Can be hit while entering the commands for Elemental Sonic Overall: While this folder can easily attack and defend, you might find yourself having trouble if someone places an object on the field. Also, unless you've mastered the Elemental Sonic, one of the main sources of damage is gone. Make sure you can do the Elemental Sonic and know where to position the Sensor in each situation before trying out this folder. IVc. viii. Magenta Galaxy's Hadouken! --------------------- 4 VarSword B 3 Zapring2 B 3 Pawn B 3 Navi+20 * 3 Areagrab * 2 Mole2 B 1 BeastMan B 1 BeastManV2 B 1 BeastManV3 B 1 BeastManV4 B 1 BeastManV5 B 1 Atk+30 * 1 Navi+40 * 1 Atk+10 * 1 FstGauge * (preset) --------------------- Preferred style: Cust Preferred Element: Aqua or Elec Rundown: Some chips have the ability to do more hits when you press the A button at the right intervals. BeastMan is just one of those chips. Here, Magenta Galaxy put together a folder based on using BeastMan to his best. With Atk+ chips, BeastMans 5 hit combo can do a lot of damage. And if that fails, you still have the VarSwords Elemental Sonic to back you up. Pros: -Potentially can do a lot of damage -Two means of attacking Cons: -Without locking the enemy, aiming BeastMan can be hard -This set up can't be done without Hub.Bat or MegFolder+1 -A bit lacking in defense Overall: Though BeastMan can do a lot damage, he is hard to aim. Not only that, you have to master using him as well. Without locking you'll find yourself relying on Elemental Sonic to defeat your enemies. Depending on playing style, you can switch out BeastManV5 for FolderBack, and the Rooks for Sensor3 B. IVc. ix. CrimsonKnight's Sensorship --------------------- 4 NoBeam2 E 3 Sensor3 E 3 Mole3 E 3 Rook * 3 AreaGrab E 2 VarSword E 2 Barrier E 2 Barrier100 E 2 Barrier200 E 2 Killer Eye E 1 Sanctuary E 1 FullCust * 1 FolderBack * 1 IceStage * (preset) --------------------- Preferred style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: We both worked on a Sensor based folder for a long time. Yoh tried, but found that Sensor doesn't stun long enough to hit twice. After a long time of thinking, CrimsonKnight finally figured out how to make this folder work. Sensor counts as an object on screen, so NOBeam type chips work on it! The combo is simple: Use IceStage, and let the Sensor stun the opponent. Then about 2 seconds after that, use NOBeam2 on the Sensor. This will stun the opponent, and allow another hit from the Sensor! With 4 hits from the Sensor and 3 NOBeams, it totals to 1800 damage. Pros: -Can do a lot of damage -Fairly quick folder, requires little set up. Cons: -Without IceStage, a lot of damage disappears. -The enemy won't always be in the center row, so Rook is required in the set up Overall: This folder is a for fun folder, mainly for net battling. It doesn't use any power house advances, but still does major damage. The only problem is putting the Sensor in the correct spot, because the enemy won't always be in the center row. Rooks can serve as defense, but will mostly be used for the NOBeams. IVd. [Insane folders] These folders are called insane for a reason. The chips needed can be VERY hard to get, and to battle with these folders takes exact strategy, timing and chip selection to win. However, the perfect set up can mean a quick victory. A word of warning: Use at your own risk, as even the most skilled and experienced players can lose if lady luck isn't on their side. IVd. i. Asakura Yoh's Disco Inferno ---------------------- 4 HeatShot J 4 Heat-V J 4 HeatSide J 4 Prism J 4 Fire+30 * 3 Invis * 3 Areagrab * 2 GrassStage J 2 Airshot3 * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: This Folder design makes use of the combo best seen in the Apprentice Folder, HeatSpread + Prism. When successful the Prism will reflect the damage as it usually does, but the resulting explosion will also damage, doing a total of 600 damage. However, this folder adds Grass Stage, which doubles that damage to 1200. It doesn't end there, though. Adding Fire+30's gives this folder the to do a potential 1440 damage, that can hit the entire enemy area. Pros: -Has the ability to do devastating damage. -Fire is a powerful element, considering the popularity of Wood element. -Combo can be done in one chip selection. Cons: -Slightly slow. -Chips can be very hard to obtain (You'll be pulling hair out of your head for 4 Prism J) -No way to deal with shadows. -Enemy can purposely move under the Prism. Overall: Using the Prism to reflect any damage given to it, HeatSpread on GrassStage will do at least 1200(1800 to a Wood element MegaMan!) But once your enemy gets used to the combo, they'll most likely rather take 100 damage from the Prism than let you set up the combo. That is why you need locking. You may want to switch out a Prism for FolderBack. IVd ii. CrimsonKnight's Illusion of Gaia ---------------------- 4 Mine * 4 Invis * 3 MetaGel C 3 CurseShld1 C 3 CurseShld2 C 3 CurseShld3 C 2 Northwind C 1 Sanc C 1 FolderBk * 1 GaiaSword * (preset) 1 GaiaBld * 1 Fountain * 1 Salamander * 1 Bolt * 1 FullCust * ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Wood Rundown: Once again, Mega Chip restrictions turns an interesting concept into a near impossibility. This folder attempts to focus on the Gaia chips as a means of devastating damage. Evercurse and Master Style not only provide for backup, but their individual chips are some of the most powerful in the game, and make perfect fodder for the Gaia chips. Note that you MUST be using a Wood element for this folder, otherwise it will be severely weakened, and practically impossible to play. Pros: -High damage with one chip, potentially 1300(2600 if elec element!). -One code, always good. -Auras can't stop the folder. -Can easily slay shadows. -Relatively easy to build. -Evercurse and Master Style serve as backup if gaiasword fails. Cons: -Depends mostly on 2 Mega chips. -Speed is sporadic, either can destroy quick, or slow. -Missing will most likely be fatal, so locking very important. Overall: This folder is not easy to master as smart decisions must be made while using it. Will you attempt to use the EverCurse PA, or instead feed it to a Gaia chip. Every choice made will ultimately have a downside, so be aware that a mistake may be your undoing. You could choose to drop some MetaGels for Fan * in order to make it easier to hit your opponents. IVd iii. Simon Belmont33's Nature's Vengeance ---------------------- 3 AirShot3 * 3 Wood+ 30 * 3 PanlGrab * 2 StepSwrd P 2 StepCros P 2 NorthWind A 2 Plasma3 P 2 AreaGrab * 2 RockCube * 2 Invis * 1 FstGuage * (preset) 1 Atk+ 30 * 1 HeroSwrd P 1 FullCust * 1 PlantManV2 P 1 PlantManV3 P 1 PlantManV4 P ---------------------- Preferred Style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: This folder makes use of the restricted PA, EvilCut. The PA itself is quite painful as it does 4 swipes for 150 damage apiece. Add +40 attack to that you and you have 760 damage. Of course this wouldn't be enough to merit a folder, which is why the code complient Plantman and Plasma come to assist. Plantman does three hits and stuns the enemy, and Plasma just stuns, giving you time to setup the perfect attack. The airshot/rockcube combo never fails as you can use it to hurt opponents or push them back to area grab. Pros: -Various ways to hurt and stun opponents, leaving them open for EvilCut. -Can easily handle shadows. -Fairly easy to construct. -NorthWinds take care of auras. Cons: -A shortage of defense, considering this folder intends to stall for the EvilCut PA. -Slight code clashing, but necessary for NorthWinds Overall: This folder is nice for Navis, and with the addition of NorthWinds, it makes it capable for netbattles as well. However, since this folder's main damage relies on 3 chips, pulling off the attack when you need it is a much more difficult task than most. If possible, substitute a Wood+30 chip with FolderBk as a precautionary measure. IVd. iv. Double Edge --------------------- 4xRope1 M 4xPlasma2 M 4xMole3 M 4xBigWave M 3xAntiDamage M 3xMistmanV2-4 [3 Mega] 2xGeddon3 M 2xNorthwind Z 1xFastGauge * (Preset) 1xFullCust * [Mega] 1xMuramasa (Folder basis) [Mega] 1xFolderBak * [Giga] --------------------- Preferred style: Custom Preferred element: Elec Rundown: When you see this, you might think this is the run of the mill BodyGuard folder. But this folder has no BodyGuard. The focus here is to use MuraMasa, a chip that uses lost HP to attack. With the navi customizer giving you up to 3000 HP, you can take a lot of damage, and still have no fear of losing. Northwind is necessary despite the code clashing, because you don't want to waste the valuable MuraMasa slice on an Aura. Pros: -Lots of HP means you don't need a lot of defense -The navi customizer makes getting damaged a lot easier Cons: -You MUST be fast, or you will not survive -Stunning and Areagrabs are needed Overall: There is a reason this is in the insane section. You have to be insane to try this folder! This folder is very hard to use, but rewarding in the end. You may want to switch out a Rope and Plasma for two Areagrab *'s. Remember, without locking or stunning, you'll have a hard time hitting your opponent with the MuraMasa slash. IVd. v. rockmanxv3's Tsumetai no Jigoku --------------------- 4 Invis * 4 NoBeam3 W 3 Area Grab * 3 GrassStg * 3 Mine * 3 Prism W 3 Timpani W 2 PanlOut1 * 1 FoldrBak * 1 FullCust * (Regular) 1 GaiaBlad * 1 GaiaSwrd * 1 OldWood W --------------------- Preferred style: Cust Preferred Element: Wood or Elec Rundown: Now this is a strange folder, isn't it? The purpose here is to use Timpani to stun, and the NOBeam3 or GaiaBlade while they can't move. With GrassStage and OldWood, you also have a nice back up. Prism can reflect the OldWood too, as it is a time freeze attack. Pros: -Can deal a lot of damage in many ways -Fast for the most part Cons: -The basis is a little spread out -Prism requires set up Overall: This folder can do a lot of damage. The true focus here is to use GaiaBlade, but also has a lot of back up for it. NOBeam adds to GaiaBlade, but can be used as a damage source on its own as well. This folder might seem like Illusion of Gaia, but a folder with OldWood was a bit too good to pass up. Since OldWood gets boosted from every Grass panel there is, it can do a lot of damage. The basis might seem a little strange, but this folder works out nicely. IVd. vi. CrimsonKnight and Asakura Yoh's Disco Inferno: Custom --------------------- 4 Sensor3 J 4 Prism J 3 HeatShot J 3 Heat-V J 3 HeatSide J 3 GrassStage (one is preset) 3 Areagrab (mix and match with PanlGrab) 2 Shadow J 2 Invis * 1 Jealousy J 1 Fullcust * 1 FolderBack * --------------------- Preferred style: Custom Preferred Element: Elec Rundown: Yes, this is the folder that has been spoken about for quite some time on the boards. At first glance you might not see why it's so great, but that's why we're here: to explain! The main flaw of Disco Inferno was that fact that your opponent could move right under the Prism. But if you place Sensor3 in the middle, can they move once you throw it? No! The most important thing to do is capture the center panel, and that's where Areagrab and PanlGrab come in. Just use one, then place the sensor in their middle panel. Pros: -Very fast -Still has the ability to do 1200 (1800 to wood enemies) damage in one shot -Hard to avoid -Sensor pierces -Jealousy is a super piercing chip Cons: -Sensor can still be hit by wide type attacks -Prism and Sensor can't be on the field at the same time, its one or the other. -No slicing Overall: This is what CrimsonKnight and I came up with together. CrimsonKnight thought of the Sensor, and Yoh did some of the testing. It turns out that this works a lot better than it may seem, because the Sensor pierces. All in all, this makes the folder faster and even more deadlier than before. ElecCust's charge shot also makes sure they can't move once you've already thrown the Prism. And even if the enemy survives the 1200 damage, Jealousy comes through with unblockable damage to finish things off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Find those chips! Well, you've seen all the folders now, right? You must be thinking "How am I going to get all of these chips?!". Well, this section is here to help you. Here the folders will be relisted, but with locations next to each chips name. Coming soon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Navi Customizer Set ups This section is unique to this Folder Faq since MMBN3 first introduced this specialized feature. As you have probably figured out by now, effective folder construction is vital to your survival, but also having a properly set up NC is almost as important. What good is the ultimate folder, if you're constantly glitched, or unable to use some of the chips in your folder such as Dark Aura, Bass+, etc. Here we provide a small list of well done set ups that will greatly enhance just about any folder you can think of. Some set ups are better suited for certain folders than others, but one thing seems to be common for almost all of the following set ups, Custom/Shield is the preferred style. This is not unusual as the Blue NC Blocks are some of the most powerful in the game (ie: Custom+2 or Reflect). Anyway, this list doesn't include all possible NC set ups, just some of the more useful, so whether you incorporate them into your Navi Cust or not is entirely up to you. 1. Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ's) Here we attempt to answer common questions in order to save both your and our time. Q: A lot of folders use the FolderBk chip. Where can I get it? A: This highly prized Giga Chip can only be obtained in the Blue Version of the game. The White Version has NaviRecycle instead. Refer to The Dark Unknown's hite/Blue Differences FAQ located in the 'FAQs and Guides' section for either version of the game for more information. Q: I think my folder is really good. Can I submit it for this Faq? A: We are not looking for any new folders at this time. We may at a future date, and will make an announcement on the GameFAQs board if we decide to to that. Q: I KNOW that my folder is superior than <insert name>'s folder. Why won't you replace his with mine? A: These folders are to serve as a template for a particular theme. It's true that many of the folders listed are already shown in their most optimal design, but many leave room for modifications. Q: I think I have a Navi Cust set up that is better than some you have listed. Could I submit it? A: We're not going to trouble CJayC for one slight update to the Faq. If you wish, mention it on the Message Boards, and we'll decide if we should add it or not. Q: Why does Asakura have so many Navi Cust set ups? He probably wasn't the first the have those ideas. A: If you notice, it says the set up was submitted, not created by the people listed. It merely means they sent them to either Asakura or myself before another did, so don't think they are taking credit for creating them. Q: I don't like you or your FAQ, where do you live, so I can beat you up? A: That's classified, my violent friend. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII.
